A simple "Thank You" goes a long way, especially for small business owners. It's a lot easier and less expensive retaining a current buyer than gaining a new one. Typically, when those buyers come back, they spend more. This is because they trust your company and have become a fan of your products/service.
Take the time to make that customer feel like VIP and go the extra mile to say "Thank You". Write hand written thank you's for each order. Send personalized emails on birthdays or on the 1 year anniversary of their first purchase. Don't dip too much into your profits for this, but take the extra time to make that customer feel appreciated.
This year, I am sending all of my customers thank you postcards with a free shipping coupon attached. It will cost me a little over $100 to do this, but even if I can get one customer to become a repeat buyer, it is worth it.
Business Owners: How do you stimulate repeat customers?
Buyers: What have you found to stand out from companies that makes you come back?
