We all want the versatility of different hair styles; going from straight to curled to a wavy pattern all in the same week. Your blow dryer, flat iron, or curling iron can help you achieve any of these sought after styles. But, if you misuse these tools, it can cause your hair to become heat damaged. Brought to you by Love Struck Extensions, check out these 4 useful tips on how to avoid heat damage:
NEVER run over the same piece of hair twice. Rather, aim for one slow pass down each section of hair. Section hair in smaller pieces to achieve straight hair in one pass.
ALWAYS use a thermal heat protectant to reduce the amount of damage caused by high heats from flat irons and curling irons. Many of these products use silicone as a protective coating for your hair.
NEVER put a high-heat product on wet/damp hair, even when the tool claims to be a 'wet-to-dry' product.
ALWAYS make sure the temperature is right for your hair. Fine, damage, or chemically treated hair should be ironed below 300 degrees. Normal hair can be ironed at 300-380 degrees and thick, course, extra curly hair can be ironed at 350-400 degrees. Start at a lower setting and increase as needed.
